Apples : By 2027, South African apple exports are on a trajectory of continued structural growth, driven by the entry into production of modern orchards and a strong push into Asian markets. South Africa confirms its position as the leading producer and exporter of apples in the Southern Hemisphere. After achieving record forecasts of 52 million cartons (12.5 kg) during the 2026 campaign, export volumes in 2027 continue their upward trajectory to approach a long-term objective of 700,000 tonnes.
Stone fruit : In 2027, South African stone fruit exports (plums, nectarines, peaches, apricots, cherries) are on track for a historic expansion in volume. Following an exceptional previous season that saw exportable volume jump by 15% to reach 33 million cartons, the year 2027 consolidates this lead. Overall production volumes stabilize around 350,000 tonnes per year.
Grapes : After wrapping up a record-breaking season with 79 million 4.5 kg cartons exported, South Africa is consolidating its gains. For the 2026/2027 season, supply is stabilizing at a high level, ranging between 78 and 80 million cartons. Export volumes for 2027 reflect the quality and sustainability requirements of global supermarkets: the grape varieties Crimson Seedless (12% of the volumes), Sweet Globe (11 %), Sweet Celebration (11 %) and Autumn Crisp (9%) form the core of the exportable offering.
